Copyleft

Copyleft is a creative way of using copyright law for granting the right to copy modified versions of a work (software, science, culture, etc.) and requiring that the same right be preserved in the modified versions.

Copyleft turns copyright around to put it at the service of freedom.

Free Software is for Free Societies

Taking into account the widespread and increasing use of software in daily life, if we are not using Free Software, we are giving somebody else power over us (to corporations, governments, surveillance agencies, etc.). Thus, digital communications, social and environmental activism, scientific and technological research, digital artistic work, business, and many other fields, will be under permanent and growing control of external agents, not in the hands of the people.

Based on the aforementioned, and considering its inherent commitment to freedom, cooperation, and autonomy, we truly believe that Free Software is not only a goal in and of itself, but a great chance for empowering people and promoting social change.

You may believe that you are not important enough to avoid being tracked by institutions and restricted from freely distributing information. However, we believe that you are important. You can contribute to the Free Software Movement and help us use free software to build a better world.
